Loss and Grief
Loss and grief manifest themselves in various ways. From the passing of a loved one, a break-up or divorce; to losing a job, home, financial stability, health and even a pet.
These experiences can be painful and different for each person, making it difficult to navigate the emotional pathway of grief.
There is no ‘normal’ timeline for grieving, and sometimes we may feel like we are making progress only to be hit with waves of grief that feels like we are stuck or moving backwards. It's important to remember that everyone's capacity to manage their grief is unique, influenced by their personalities and temperaments.
Dealing with unsolicited advice or hurtful comments while grieving can be challenging, especially when we are emotionally exhausted. However, it's often the internal grief that is the hardest to cope with.
Physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, chest pain, and stomach problems, as well as emotional symptoms like deep sadness, detachment, irritability, bitterness, numbness, fear, and anxiety may be present.
Seeing a therapist can provide a safe and secure environment to discuss healthy coping tools without feeling like someone is trying to ‘fix’ us or our situation.
